Alan Dart Patterns and Yuletide Gnome

Once again Ravelry strikes again!!! I was surfing patterns on Ravelry for quick Christmas knits and fell in love with this Yuletide Gnome. Searched high and low and finally was able to get the pattern. So here he is in all his festive glory.

Click pictures for larger image. He has a cute little nose. I wish I had choose different fun fur for his beard. It blends to well with his face. Oh well live and learn

Knitting with fabric

Here is a Finished UFO. I started this bag a couple of years ago and lost interest. When I was cleaning out my yarn bins I found the kit and decided I needed to finish. So I only had to knit one side for the bag I had already made the first side so within about an hour I had the second side done. I then went downstairs to my sewing area and sewed the kit together( pretty simple). I love the bag but I think I am going to redo the handles. I like a little longer handle. I was thinking of braiding some fabric and making new handles to match. Here is a couple of shots. I will reload if I redo the handle soon.

Monica

Sorry I have not posted lately. Summer sure keeps us all busy. Between vacations and daily life I feel like I am running full speed ahead without a life-line!!

Here is a quick knit project I finished for my daughter. It is the Monica ruffled Tank Top from Summer Knitty.

I used TLC cotton plus in pink and green for this cutie. I did make some changes to original pattern. I did a 2x2 ribbing at the bottom and knitted the top in the round.

Wave and Shell Shawl

On the needles right now I have a Cotton Wave and Shell pattern Shawl. I love the one done in the cotton ribbon yarn but couldn't find any locally that I liked so I am using peaches and cream worsted wt cotton in faded denim . This is a very easy pattern and I have it memorized so it makes for good knitting on the go.

Itty Bitty Hats

Itty Bitty Hats . Here is a quick one I just knitted up for a friend who is a new grandmother. I used cotton yarn and DMC cotton doubled to do the flowers. I enjoyed the process minus all the hand sewing .

Clapotis

Funny how colors change!!! I found the perfect acrylic yarn( no yarn snobs comments). I fell in love with all the colors. But as I knitted , and I knitted I fell out of love with the colors. I loved the skeins but not the actual pooling of color in my finished project. I ended up giving my beautiful shawl to my sister. My sister loved it and was a great comfort shawl for her since she recently had surgery. So I guess you could say I win either way!!! Here are some pics .

I do plan to another Clapotis but in a nicer yarn.

Lizard Ridge

Any one want to swap some Noro Kureyon? I have one skien of color 153 I will trade for another color? Being on a budget I will be making this blanket a few squares at a time. So any trades or yarn donations would be greatly appreciated. I love the colors of these blocks. It is kinda of addicting!!!!!

Will post pics soon. I have the first block done and waiting for more yarn to come!

Forest Canopy Shawl

Well somehow another month has come and almost gone. I have been busy trying new stuff. I had started the flower basket shawl awhile back and have since frogged twice. Technically I don't think I was ready for that kind of lace. After searching the web and reading loads of blogs I found some lace and lace tips that worked for me. I have a fo to show you all. I love this pattern and project. It is the Forest CanopyShoulder Shawl . pattern can be found at: http://here:ma2ut.blogspot.com/2006/09/forest-canopy-shoulder-shawl.html

Here is the shawl blocking.

I will try and post more pics outside when it is done blocking.
I used one skien (350 yards) of Mountain Colors Weavers quarters in OLIVE color wheel. This pattern is a wonderful first lace project. I think blocking the shawl was harder than the actual knitting.

I hope to start the Diamond Fantasy lace shawl next.

Socks, Socks, Socks

Socks come in all sizes and shapes. Two needles, Four needles or one needle. I finally mastered all the different ways to knit socks. Lets see, I tried toe up, top down, two needle , four needle, and one needle and finally finished a pair of socks. I love the magic loop method. I did both of these socks a couple of different ways. I started a pair 0f toe up but did not like the heel so I frogged and started over. I then did top down on two needles and switched to four until I reached the heel and went back to two needle. On the second sock I used the magic loop one needle method and found that to be the easiest. So far the hardest part has been trying to find 40" circular needles. None of our local craft store carries them and my lys just closed. So I have been trying to find reasonable price on line. Here are some pics of my Regia Jacquard socks.

Hedgehogs

How many UFP's (unfinished projects ) do you have going? I started the fiber trends Felted hedgehog over the summer. I got the front body done but never seemed to pick it back up. So once again while I was snowed in I finished the felted hedgehog. I just love him. He still needs a face but he is just so cute. I have about 3 more to make. A few friends have seen him and they all just have to have one so I guess I will get busy and assembly line them and make a few birthday presents. Well here is a pic of the felted hedgehog with no face. I will have to take a picture of the un- felted one next time. He turned out to be about 8" . Now if I can just pry him away from my daughter.

Felted Knitted Cable needle Case

Well I have been a little off kilter lately. Too much snow and too much time on my hands. Also one busy 6 year old under my feet due to snow days. I decided I would raid my stash for a project I have wanted to do for awhile. I can finally organize my bamboo needles. Pattern can be found here: http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/kable/kable.html.

Here are my finished pictures. I used some Patton's Classic wool in rosewood and some leftover mauve from knit picks for the cables inside. This was a pretty easy and quick project.

Ponchos in the round

Well I have busted my butt for the last three days to finish this poncho for my daughters friend's birthday party. I had made Katie the purple fun fur trimmed one last year. She did not like it, she said it was too fuzzy but now she is crazy about it. SO I made her friend a pink one in the round.

Around and around and around I went until presto it was big enough. I really like this poncho better than the two rectangle one . I will let Katie pick some new yarn and make her one like this as well but I need to rest my hands. Those size 11.00 circular needles and two boucle yarns stitched together were really tough on my hands so I will rest them a bit.
Here are the pics

Yarn Purchases Any one?????

I just had to have some NORO yarns. So I have been shopping on eBay trying to win some yarn. I finally got some I could afford. I had planned to make the felted Dorothy Bag by black sheep bags. I bought this pattern before I had learned to entrelac. I am using NORO Kureyon Color number 153. It ranges from teal/blue/and purple. Reminds me of spring lilacs and Iris.

Here is a pic of the yarn. I have to finish some UFOs before I can start this project.

Flower Basket Lace Shawl Update

Well I am slowly working on my first big lace project. So far so good. I learned all about safety lines. I found that I need no interruptions while knitting lace. I recently found an article on blocking lace and on blocking wires. My husband Jim was nice enough to buy me some stainless steel tig welding rods 3 feet long so when I finish the shawl I will be able to try out the blocking wires. Here is a picture of my slow progress.

Entrelac

Well , I have to blame my sister-in-law for all the entrelac. She got me all addicted to those fast short rows. I love not having to change colors and work in the ends. The patons SWS yarn is so soft and the colors change like magic. I have about three more projects I want to work in this yarn. I am at a stand still on the scarf. Waiting for the new Michael's Coupon so I can pick up one more Natural Earth color skein to finish the scarf. I am using an altered version of the Lady E in scarf style. Now that my SIL taught me to knit backwards I might even attempt the Lady E.

Here is a picture of my progress.

Haven't posted in a while

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with my blog. Too much knitting. I just finished two cute hats. One is a snowman hat and the other is a cupcake hat. Unfortunately Katie forgot the cupcake hat at school so no pics right now of that one. Here is the snowman hat. It comes from the book "itty-bitty hats" by Susan B. Anderson. I have seen several hats made from this book and they are so cute. I just couldn't resist. I will have to get busy and make a couple for my one year old neice.
